5 Minutes for A Summer Wardrobe
Just like every body is a beach body; every closet can be a summer closet
I’ve been thinking about how I personally define minimalism. If it’s not a competition, and it’s not about a set number, what is it?
The answer came to me without prompting: minimalism is the belief that more choices don’t always make us happier.
In fact, often it’s the opposite.
This thought + the gloriously sunny days we’ve been having led me to finally transition the last of my closet from cold to warm weather-ready.
You can take 5 minutes to edit your own daily wardrobe and it will yield easier choices (and perhaps more happiness or rest) for the next season.
Here’s How:
Find a secondary storage place for clothes you don’t need in summer. This could be under a bed or in a spare closet.
Remove any pants you aren’t likely to need over summer.
Remove your darkest colored clothing.
Remove your warmest sweaters.
Move snow boots to the basement (just me? :)
KEEP: tank tops, light sweaters for cool evenings, shorts, linen pants, sandals, sun hats, perhaps one pair of jeans.
Suddenly, without even buying anything new, your whole wardrobe is now a summer wardrobe.
It’ll be so fun to resurrect the winter season clothes again in 5 months. They might look new all over again!
For even more breathing room:
Make note of what winter clothes never got used. Try them on again and decide if you want to keep them or pass them on.
Also: make note of summer gear you might need. I noticed I could use one more pair of shorts. When the sale strikes right, I will buy a new pair with confidence and knowing it will get used.
