Sometimes school starts and the weather is still hot out. Sometimes the calendar turns toward the end of the year but it still feels like summer.
I read once that this time of year brings abundance. An abundance of heat and vegetation and transitions; no matter how full you might already be.
What are you doing with this abundance? Are you trying to ignore it in the excitement of a new season? Are you soaking it in? I am not here to judge either way, but it’s worth taking a pause to consider.
I knew that I wanted to filter through my kids’ clothes before buying any new school clothes or winter gear. Taking a light touch to the wardrobe collection is a small way to mark the beginning of a new season without diving headfirst.
Maybe you want to do this too.
Five Minutes for a light touch (not a full Declutter):
Systematically comb through each category of clothes (yours, your kids, anyone’s.)
Pull out anything that is too small or otherwise unusable.
Decide to donate or how otherwise to get rid of what you don’t need anymore
This last step is key! Do not replace what you remove unless it’s absolutely necessary. Give yourself a couple of weeks to see what it’s like to live with less.
The light touch is my secret ingredient. It’s no pressure at all. It’s excellent practice for discerning what you can live without and practicing getting rid of it. It takes only five minutes. You can do this.
A light touch feels so much more approachable in my head than a full closet purge. I love this. Thanks!
